Rehabilitation for Discharged COVID-19 Patients: An Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Strategy

Xia Wenguang, doctor of rehabilitation medicine, chief physician, and master’s supervisor, is now the deputy dean of Hubei Provincial Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine and the director of National Regional TCM Rehabilitation Center (COVID-19 Rehabilitation). He has published over 50 articles, including 8 recorded by SCI, compiled 5 medical books and presided over more than 10 national and provincial scientific research programs mainly in neurological rehabilitation and critical care rehabilitation.
Some patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) suffer from decreased cardio-pulmonary function, declined physical strength and endurance, psychological disorder, social maladjustment after being discharged from hospital, which has severely affected their daily life and social activities. Thus, it is significant to improve their quality of life by conducting rehabilitation assessment and providing home/outpatient/hospital-based rehabilitation treatments with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine.
