The external-contraction febrile diseases can be differentiated into defense, qi, nutrient, and blood aspect syndromes in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which are mainly treated with Yinqiao Powder, Maxing Shigan Decoction, Qingying Decoction, and Xijiao Dihuang Decoction, respectively. This lecture will focus on the ameliorative effect and mechanism of Qingfei Paidu Decoction, Maxing Shigan Decoction, Qingying Decoction, and catalpol, the main effective ingredient of Shengdi (Radix Rehmanniae), in ameliorating the pathological changes in defense, qi, nutrient, and blood aspects.
